Know what to ask before booking a routine gas-fireplace service visit.
Choose the right appointment
Say whether the fireplace operates normally or has a specific fault. Share the appliance model, service history and property type. For a strata unit, check access arrangements and authorization with the responsible manager before booking work that could affect shared property.
Agree on the service scope
Ask the contractor which maintenance checks are included for your model, how additional repairs are approved and whether replacement parts are extra. Plan access to the equipment and ask what needs to be moved before the visit. Do not describe a routine cleaning as a complete repair or official inspection.
Leave with usable records
Request a summary of work performed, identified concerns and recommended next steps. Keep it with the operating instructions and previous invoices. Record outstanding parts or return visits separately so an appointment marked complete is not mistaken for every issue being resolved. Follow the manufacturer's maintenance guidance between professional visits.
